Canvas Stretched and Framed

Need your artwork stretched?

You've just arrived back home from your holiday and have a beautiful painting on canvas or you ordered a print on canvas and now it's time to frame it. We have put together a selection of frames with a generous discount as shown below.

Canvas art looks best framed in a "Floating Frame." The frame is set about 3-5mm out from the canvas with no overlap of the frame over the canvas. Once we stretch it, you can hang it as is or take advantage of our discounted frames that float alongside the canvas. We have many options but the Oak, Black or White price options really are too good to be true.

No "DIY" we do the work, it will be ready to hang and we can help you organise the hanging too. Below is a size and price guide showing the cost to stretch your canvas and the cost to add a Black, White or Natural Wood "floating" frame. Just bring or send in your chosen artwork and and we'll do the rest.

Stretch or Strain? No this is not a fitness work-out.

The main difference between a canvas stretcher and a strainer is that a stretcher has expandable joints that can be adjusted to tighten a loose canvas, while a strainer has fixed joins and cannot be expanded.Stretchers are usually rigid frames made of wood with expandable corners over which the canvas is stretched. The strength and straightness of the wood used for the kiln dried stretcher or strainer bars and crossbars determines how flat the painting will be.

The acceptable method for canvas art, be it an original oil or acrylic painting or a print on canvas, is to use a "strainer" frame. The options we offer here stricktly speaking should be called strainer frames but no one seems to know what that is, and so it has become common practice to call both options "stretcher" frames. Our default option is the fixed joined canvas stretcher, as the quality of modern canvas is such that it maintains its tightness without the required adjustability of a stretcher frame. On larger works we apply one or more "braces" that help the frame hold it's shape over time. The brace when required is included in the above prices. We can offer the traditional adjustable corner stretcher frames if so required.
