Not just a gifted artist, he was one of the all time great good guys.

We spoke to David Larwill’s publisher recently and he supplied us with the beautiful photo, and it so intrigued ask to ‘what was this person like, in day to day life.’ Here’s the answer.
“David was simply wonderful. Look at him and imagine you are talking to a regular guy from Ballarat. Everyone was given a nick name and he remembered everyone."Gidday mate. How the hell are ya, you ledge' " was pretty much his standard greeting to me. I always assumed he meant I was a legend. I bloody well hope so!
Was he a nice person? Absolutely! He was one with real humanity. He was more than wonderful. Not just a gifted artist, he was one of the all time great good guys. He is truly missed.” DS Publisher.
He was a founding member of the artist-run ROAR STUDIOS established in Melbourne during 1982. Larwill subsequently emerged as one of Australia's most distinctive contemporary artists. His style of populating his paintings with stylized human figures and animals, his use of child-like forms, and the occasional inclusion of slogans, give his work a naive quality that sometimes seems simplistic. However, he communicated an extraordinary range of feelings, moods and expressions through his artworks, often with considerable primal strength.
Sadly David died June, 19th 2011 at the age of 54.
